Therapy Day 3 – Being a teenager – Part 1 – Junior High School years

Scroll down to content

It took a while for me to stop being sentimental when going back to my early childhood but I have to admit I arrived smoothly to my early teenage years!

I had been a child that experienced love and was a member of a family with strong bonds through and through. This of course created strong emotional foundations even for a sensitive person like me. Yes, sensitive, it’s not a crime to admit it, isn’t it? This sensitivity led me to make poor decisions when I had to put logic above all but I am sure I am not alone in this field.

My years in junior high school were amazing, I was what you could say a better than average student with a lot of potential if “he studies harder”. But for me it was more important to follow my favorite sports club, to play basketball and football with my friends, to go to taekwondo classes, to train with the basketball team I joined and to learn a “foreign language” which it was obviously English.

As I look back to those years, anything that had to do with socialising and friends was priority number one. It was about this time that I met my till now best friends that we have shared 21+ years together.

I am describing an era between 1996 and 1998, the era of baby internet having ISDN connections at home, the era of Google and Amazon being just toddlers, Nintendo GameBoy was still thriving, Nintendo Super NES, Sega Master System and Mega Drive ware the most advanced playing machines that anyone could put his hands upon!

It almost sounds like the era of innocence! Does any of you feel the same way about this era? Do you remember anything else about these years? Let me know until I go through the less peaceful and joyfull years of my late teens and senior high school!
